U.S. Ambassador to India Meets PM Modi; Bilateral Talks Cover Trade, Defense, and Critical Minerals

New Delhi, October 12, 2025 — In a key diplomatic meeting aimed at strengthening Indo-U.S. relations, United States Ambassador to India Sergio Gor met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Sunday. The two leaders discussed a wide range of strategic and economic issues, including bilateral trade, defense cooperation, and the development of critical mineral partnerships.

According to official sources, the meeting focused on deepening collaboration across emerging sectors such as clean energy, defense manufacturing, semiconductor supply chains, and rare earth exploration — all crucial for enhancing India’s technological and industrial capabilities.

Ambassador Gor emphasized the importance of the U.S.–India relationship, calling it “one of the most consequential partnerships of the 21st century.” He noted that Washington is committed to supporting India’s role as a global economic and strategic leader in the Indo-Pacific region.

Prime Minister Modi reaffirmed India’s commitment to strengthening the bilateral partnership, highlighting the growing convergence between New Delhi and Washington on regional and global issues. He welcomed U.S. investments in India’s manufacturing and technology sectors and discussed expanding cooperation under the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF).

The talks also covered cooperation in defense innovation, cybersecurity, and critical mineral supply chains, which are vital for emerging technologies such as electric vehicles and renewable energy storage systems.
