Srinagar, Jan 28: Ad hoc employees working with the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) have voiced serious concern over non-payment of salaries for the past three months, leaving many families under severe financial strain.
The affected workers said they are struggling to meet basic household expenses due to the prolonged delay in wage disbursement. Despite performing their duties regularly, they remain uncertain about their payments, with no clear communication from the authorities regarding the release of pending salaries.
Employees said they have repeatedly approached concerned offices, but have received no concrete assurance so far. The delay has further increased financial pressure, especially on families that depend solely on these earnings for their livelihood.
They alleged that the continued non-payment reflects apathy towards ad hoc staff, who constitute a significant portion of the workforce involved in sanitation, maintenance, and other civic services across the city. The workers warned that persistent neglect could affect morale and efficiency of essential municipal services.
Appealing to higher authorities, the employees urged the Srinagar Municipal Corporation to intervene and ensure the immediate release of their pending salaries, stressing that timely payment is vital for their dignity and survival.
