Drug angle suspected after unidentified body found in Bari Brahmana
Samba, Jan 14. The dead body of an unidentified youth, suspected to be a drug addict, was recovered from the Balol area of Bari Brahmana in Samba district on Tuesday, raising fresh concerns over drug abuse in the region.
Police said the body was lying in a secluded spot in Balol and was noticed by locals, who informed the authorities. Upon reaching the spot, police found that the face of the deceased had been partially eaten by stray dogs, making identification difficult.
According to police, prima facie it appears that the unidentified youth had come to the area to consume drugs. During the search of the body, police recovered a motorcycle key, which was later confirmed to be linked to a two-wheeler stolen a few days ago from the same area.
The body was shifted to a hospital for medico-legal formalities and post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Police have initiated proceedings to establish the identity of the deceased and to ascertain how he came in possession of the stolen motorcycle key.
Notably, the Balol area of Bari Brahmana has been identified by police as a frequent gathering point for drug addicts and peddlers. In the past also, several unidentified bodies, suspected to be linked with drug abuse, have been recovered from this belt.
Police said further investigation is underway and all angles are being examined.
