Security Review Held for Tourist Spots in Kulgam

Srinagar, Jan 15 : Deputy Inspector General of Police, South Kashmir Range, Javed Iqbal Matoo on Thursday chaired a joint security review meeting to assess arrangements at tourist destinations across Kulgam district.

The meeting was held at Aharbal and focused on reviewing the prevailing security scenario at key tourist locations, with special attention to Aharbal Waterfall amid inclement weather conditions.

The meeting was attended by DIG CRPF South Kashmir Range Kuldeep Singh Deswal, Brigadier Sudhir Singh of 12 Sector Rashtriya Rifles, SSP Kulgam Anayat Ali Chowdhary, Commanding Officers of 2 Sector, 20 Rashtriya Rifles, and 18 Battalion CRPF, ASP Kulgam, and senior officers from the police, Army, intelligence agencies, and central armed police forces.

A detailed discussion was held on measures to ensure the safety and security of tourists and to strengthen confidence among visitors. Officers were directed to maintain high vigilance and ensure close coordination among all security agencies.

The meeting also reviewed security arrangements ahead of Republic Day 2026. Directions were issued to further strengthen the security grid, enhance inter agency coordination, and ensure effective deployment of forces. Emphasis was laid on proactive intelligence sharing and swift, coordinated responses to any emerging threats.

The public has been urged to cooperate with security forces in the interest of safety and to promptly share information about any suspicious activity or elements that could disturb peace and order. (GNS)
