Budgam MLA Writes to CM Omar Abdullah,
Call to Establish National Law University in Budgam
Budgam, Jan 13 : MLA Budgam and senior advocate Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi has written to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, urging him to honour his commitment regarding the establishment of a National Law University in Ompura area of Budgam.
In his letter, Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi referred to the Chief Minister’s recent public remarks in which he stated that the matter concerning the establishment of the National Law University was still under consideration. The MLA recalled that Budgam had earlier been assured the setting up of this prestigious institution, an assurance that, he said, was received with immense hope and trust by the people of the constituency.
He wrote that the promise was seen not merely as an administrative decision but as a gesture reflecting faith in the aspirations of the youth of central Kashmir and a step towards balanced regional development. The MLA said the recent statement acknowledging that no final decision has been taken had revived hope among the people of Budgam while also reminding them of the assurance that was once made.
Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi respectfully requested the Chief Minister to stand by the commitment and approve the establishment of the National Law University at Ompura Budgam. He said that honouring the promise would strengthen public trust in governance and would be remembered as an act of statesmanship, fairness, and kindness towards a region seeking educational empowerment.
The MLA further stated that such a decision would go a long way in nurturing legal education, creating opportunities for local youth, and reinforcing the belief that commitments made by leadership are upheld.
He expressed hope that under the Chief Minister’s leadership, the long-awaited aspiration of the people of Budgam would be realised, calling the establishment of the university a meaningful step towards social and educational progress in the area.
